Tafika Camp
Tafika Camp is set just outside the Nsefu Sector of the South Luangwa, and boasts some of the finest leopard viewing in Zambia. The leopard-sighting opportunities combined with the unusual and exhilarating safari activities, and the camp's family-friendly atmosphere, make Tafika and excellent addition to your Zambia Safari.
Accommodation at Tafika Camp is in six comfortable and spacious en-suite chalets, each with its own romantic outdoor shower, and set under giant lead wood trees. There are four chalets with double beds in each room; the honeymoon suite has an enormous king size bed; and the sixth chalet (with two rooms, a king size bed and two doubles) serves as the family chalet.
Tafika is unique in some of the activities that are offered. Naturally, guests enjoy some excellent game drives, which are offered in the early morning and late afternoon (which often extends into the evening). This allows for extensive exploration of the area, and a chance for some great wildlife sightings.

However, you might wish to experience and different perspective – which is best enjoyed by microlight. This exhilarating activity is piloted by John Coppinger, the owner of the Camp. Enjoy a short flight over the area, giving you the chance to see the Luangwa Valley and River, and how it all makes for such a unique Park. Flights are offered at sunrise, which ensures both smooth and clear conditions, and also allows guests to take part in the normal morning game viewing activities. Flights last an average of 15 minutes and provide a perfect bird's eye view of both the Luangwa wildlife and the scenery surrounding Tafika Camp. Note: microlight flights may not be pre-booked.
You may prefer to stay closer to earth, and get some additional exercise on a Mountain bike safari…these generally take place in the afternoon and follow the tracks and paths of the Game Management Area, adjacent to Tafika Camp, and into the Park along the main roads. You will have time to ride and then meet up with the late afternoon game drive.
Guests at Takifa are also cordially invited to the local village, Mkasanga. This gives you the chance to learn about the lives of the people of the Luangwa Valley; highlights of these visits include a guided tour of the local school - proudly showcased by the teachers, a local church choir performance where guests experience the perfect harmony of African singing.
Tafika Camp is open on a seasonal basis: and is open annually 01 May to 15 November
Children under the age of 10 years are accepted at Tafika at management's discretion.
