The Zambian Government has legislated that all tourism products be standard rated for VAT (16%) as of the 1st January 2014.
The good news is that if you have alreasy secured your Safari arrangements, you will not be affected.
For any NEW bookings in terms of accommodation, your Safari costs will, unfortunately, increase... VAT will not be added onto Park Fees, Conservation Levies and Flights, these are all excluded from VAT.
The VAT will become a formidable addition to Zambia's Revenue collection sources, which may assist in improved tourism infrastructure throughout Zambia, and improved conservation practices.
