​Proflight, Zambia’s only scheduled airline has some updates:
 
This year they are offering direct connections between the South Luangwa and the Lower Zambezi, these operate in both directions on a daily basis. 
 
Proflight has also announced the introduction of a Livingstone-Lower Zambezi direct flight route for the 2018 safari season.  The daily flights will operate on the Cessna Caravan, capacity of up to 12 passengers, between 15 June 2018 and 15 October 2018.  The departure from Livingstone is morning and the arrival back to Livingstone is evening. 
 
The Kafue is also being added to the 2018 schedules which will be a huge benefit to this National Park.  Flights services into Lufupa airstrip in Kafue National Park for the 2018 safari season are being introduced.  The flights will be operated by the Cessna Caravan, capacity between 10-12 passengers. They will operate four times weekly (extensions available to the Busanga Plains in the north and Chunga in the central area)  in peak safari months June through October and twice weekly in shoulder season months April, May and November.  The flight times offer convenient connections to/from Mfuwe, Livingstone, Lower Zambezi and Liuwa Plains.

Some good news for Zambia Safaris: Proflight has announced a new tourism route for 2017 - between 15 Jun - 31 Oct 2017, there will be direct flights between Mfuwe and Lower Zambezi (Royal and Jeki airstrips).  This will slightly change the Lower Zambezi schedule which is already in place for 2017.

The morning Lusaka-Lower Zambezi flight and the evening Lower Zambezi-Lusaka flight will also be brought back, allowing for  direct connections to Emirates for 2017.

However, there will be no Lower Zam scheduled flights between 01-12 April, due to low passenger numbers and the decision by some lodges to only open in time for Easter weekend.  However, private charters can be arranged.

There is maximum capacity of 12 passengers on all Proflight Lower Zambezi scheduled flights, and flights will continue to be operated by the Cessna Caravan 208 aircraft with two pilots.

The fare and taxes on the direct Mfuwe-Lower Zam service remain the same as current on Mfuwe-Lower Zam via Lusaka.  This will allow for easy changes between flights should passengers flight dates change and the direct flight be sold out or the later timings via Lusaka are preferred.  

Proflight will start Lusaka/Durban direct flights from Tuesday 22 September using the 50 seat CRJ jet aircraft.

The Lusaka/Durban direct flights will operate three times a week, and the flights are now open for sale.

The schedule:
•    P0024 Lusaka to Durban - 11:00-13:30 - Tue/Thu/Sat
•    P0025 Durban to Lusaka - 14:10-16:40 - Tue/Thu
•    P0023 Durban to Lusaka - 12:00-14:30 - Sun

The wonders of Zambia’s largest national park – Kafue – will be more accessible thanks to the new route launched by Proflight Zambia.

Driving times to Busanga, which is in the north of the park, can take up to 15 hours, compared with the two-hour flight with Proflight’s twice-weekly scheduled journey from Lusaka. Kafue National Park has a reputation as a tranquil environment with just the right touch of adventure and is home to 55 species of animals, including rare birds, big cats and elephants. Extending to 22,400 square kilometres, the park boasts lodges and camps to cater for all budgets.

Along with Kafue, Proflight Zambia expected to add other routes to its network in the coming months.
