Baines' River Camp
Baines’ River Camp is set on the northern bank of the Zambezi River - directly opposite Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools World Heritage Site.
Baines’ River Camp accommodates 20 guests in 8 individual suites – 6 Explorer and 2 Junior Suites
There is also a two-bedroom family unit - Baines Cottage offers a private open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area, complimented by a deep veranda with comfortable furnishings and an al fresco dining area. Private guide and chef can also be arranged.All of the accommodation is air-conditioned, and there is also a ceiling fan; large veranda with comfortable seating; en suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The suites are also equipped with a mini bar, coffee/ tea making facilities, hairdryer, torch, personal safe, personal insect repellent spray and cream, and insect repellent room spray.
The central Camp area is mainly open plan design – you enjoy magnificent views of the Zambezi River from the Selous Bar, the lounge and dining areas and from the swimming pool. The Camp also boasts a Spa treatments which, along with a massage, you can enjoy in the privacy of your suite.
At Baines’ River Camp there are no set meal times - breakfasts, brunches and lunches are prepared to suit guest activities and personal preferences. You might wish to stay out all day, and enjoy delicious picnic meals and snacks. Dining tends to be a relaxed affair and usually enjoyed with other guests. However, you can also have an intimate dinner for two on your private veranda.

The Camp offers both river and land based safari activities, some of which are seasonally specific. River cruises make for relaxed game viewing, photography and bird watching. Here you have the chance to see baboons, hippo, elephant, crocodiles, water buck and the occasional buffalo on the river bank and the Zambezi’s various islands. Sunset cruises are also wonderful: 01 March – 15 December
Anglers visit the Zambezi River especially to catch Tiger Fish. The Camp runs a strict catch and release policy: 01 September – 30 November
From June to mid-December, you can enjoy Canoe safaris, a wonderful way to enjoy the River and to get up close to wildlife.
For the keen photographer, the best chance to see predators, large herds of buffalo and numerous other species is on a game drive in an open vehicle: 01 June – 15 November
The more adventurous might also enjoy a Walking Safari - best suited during winter months. On a walking safari the focus is mainly on tracks, vegetation, birds, butterflies and so forth: 01 June – 30 September
