Mchenja Camp
Mchenja Camp is set in a prime area, teeming with wildlife.
Mchenja is the local name for ebony, and the camp is tucked into a shady grove of these trees, beside the Luangwa River in the heart of the Park.
Accommodation is in 5 safari rooms (including a two-bedroom, two-bathroom family safari unit). The rooms have grass walls, soft cushions and light-as-air curtains. Each room has a feather-top bed, large picture windows and open air en-suite bathroom with a bath looking out onto the river.
At breakfast, you can enjoy the chorus of birdsong and whooping of hippos. Between safari activities, relax in the refreshing pool overlooking the Luangwa river.

Game viewing in this area is superb and night drives are usually very worthwhile.
Activities allow you to enjoy the area, whether you are looking for the big cats (lion and leopard), or wish to enjoy a night drive, which are always rewarding, as the bush reveals its secrets. At the right time of year, this is one of the best camps in the park for seeing carmine bee-eaters.
In addition, you can enjoy the joy of a Sleepout under the stars.
Mchenja is open 20 May to 15 November.
Children of all ages welcome.
