South Luangwa Accommodation
South Luangwa National Park and its environs is home to a good selection of properties. Many of the ''lodges'' are best described as Bush Camps, as they are often erected on a seasonal basis, tend to be small, and are very popular for the famed Walking Safaris. That said, these may be rustic, but they are very comfortable, offering excellent catering, and exceptional guiding.
Generally speaking the Lodges tend to the luxurious, and are also small, and intimate. If you have the time, it is well-worth combining a number of Lodges and Camps into your itinerary, as you then get to explore and fully enjoy this unique Park.
As the South Luangwa is accessed through 2 gates (Mfuwe and Nyamaluma), nearly all properties tend to be closer to the eastern side of the National park. As the Park is quite long and narrow, this means that the properties are stretched over a large area, and can be somewhat casually split into those north of the Main gate (which is at the midway point), those clustered closer to the Main gate and those south of the main gate.
In addition, guiding the South Luangwa is world-class, and you will get to see some wonderful wildlife sightings.
