Kaingo Camp
Kaingo Camp overlooks the Luangwa River, with the chalets well spread out, allowing for privacy. As there are only 6 chalets, this is a small camp, allowing for a more personalised Safari experience.
Large fly-wired windows provide excellent views of the River, and as the Camp uses solar power, the only sounds you are those of nature. Each chalet has both an indoor en suite bathroom, and an outdoor bath with shady views of a pod of hippo. Kaingo Camp is particularly proud of the unique individual decks built out over the River in front of each chalet, which allows you the chance for excellent game viewing.
The main Camp area is large and centrally located, which houses the open-sided sitting room; a dining area, library and the renowned thousand year old lead-wood bar.
Good photographs are a highlight of many safaris, and at Kaingo you can take exceptional pictures from one of the hides. Even if photography is not for you, the chance to relax and watch the natural world go by from a hide, can be bewitching.

The elephant hides and hippo hides are close to camp, which afford visitors close-ups of these great extraordinary mammals. Stork fishing parties, Carmine bee-eater colonies, resident Pel’s Fishing Owl and Red-billed Quelea in their thousands are among the birding highlights of the area.
As you are in the South Luangwa, your stay would not be complete without the experience of a Walking Safari. A Zambia walking safari in offers a unique way to experience the bush and observe the wildlife. Each walk only takes 6 guests, as you set out with a guide and National Park Scout, making for a personalised, and safe, activity. Depending upon sightings, you are out for about 3 hours. There a number of beautiful walks around Camp, including the Ebony Forest, visits to waterholes, lagoons and tributaries.
You also have the choice of a game drive, which is offered 3 times a day and last approximately 3 hours: a morning game drive leaves camp around sunrise, there is an afternoon drive, and, after tea, the evening drive. The latter allows you the chance of seeing the nocturnally active wildlife.
At Kaingo you are offered 3 game viewing activities a day, off of which are optional. You may wish to just stay in camp for a few hours, enjoying the view from a hammock or the deck…
