Puku Ridge
Newly rebuilt Puku Ridge blends style and comfort seamlessly with nature. Located well inside the incredible South Luangwa National Park with an outlook onto a private floodplain and watering hole, this remote and elevated landscape is enriched by the rolling gait of giraffe, the heart-shaped nose of the puku, and the midnight whoop of the spotted hyena.
Each of Puku Ridge’s 8 luxury safari tents are set on an elevated ridge overlooking plain and woodlands, home to an abundance of wildlife.
Accommodation offers a super-king or large twin bed configuration for the ultimate sleep with air conditioning (which is a rare and welcome luxury in the Luangwa valley) and overhead fans, all within a stylish take on the mosquito net. En suite facilities include private toilet and indoor shower plus “his & hers” washbasins and huge bathtub (complete with a view).
Each tent also boasts a multi-level veranda with plunge pool which overlooks the plains and wildlife. In addition there is a tower with star bed perfect for nights under the vast African sky. Inside the luxury tent there is a minibar with tea/ coffee station, complimentary wi-fi, 24/7 220v power, and international charging facilities.
The main area of Puku Ridge offers an indoor and open-air lounge with various dining options, as well as a campfire and viewing hide overlooking the waterhole.
The chefs and their meals at Puku Ridge are world-renowned. Their food is fresh, creative, varied, and always delicious. Colourful, fresh vegetables are hand-picked from the local markets just outside the Park, rare herbs and spices come from secret locations and all but just a few condiments are sourced internationally.
The South Luangwa is a vast, unspoiled ecosystem with varying habitats and an abundance of wildlife. Highlight activities at Puku Ridge include incredible walking safaris, photographic opportunities from the new hide, and the best game viewing – day or night – from the new fleet of custom-made Landcruisers.

Varied habitat and diverse wildlife make for superb photographic opportunities where nature reveals its secrets right in front of you and undisturbed. Typically the Game Drives venture out for a few hours in the morning and again in the afternoon, culminating in sundowners (a cocktail of your choice and some delicious snacks if you wish) and then return to camp on a night drive, using filtered red spotlights to enjoy the crepuscular and nocturnal creatures.
A night drive in the South Luangwa National Park is one of the activities that make Zambia particularly unique.
The South Luangwa is also home of the walking safari in Zambia. Get a chance to follow in the footsteps of explorers from the 18th century in an area that has barely changed and where the wildlife still roams wild and free. Bush walks are a sensory adventure, you are on their turf now.
You are in the capable hands of an experienced, highly trained safari guide and an armed Government National Parks scout who will lead and enthral you with insights you never knew, stories that you will take home with you, and who will leave you with memories you will treasure forever.
