Leopard Lodge
Leopard Lodge is set in a private Game Management area bordering the north-east Kafue National Park. Leopard Lodge is open year round. Kafue is perhaps best after the rains in the first half of the year as there is lush vegetation. However, in terms of game viewing the best time to visit is in the dry season, from April to October. Kafue National Park is known for its excellent game viewing and you have the chance to see herds of antelope, lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant.
Accommodation is in 6 well-appointed stylish chalets, which have been positioned to allow for privacy. The Rhodesian Teak furnishings compliment the African Colonial décor of the bedrooms and the en suite bathrooms.
The focal point of the lodge is the extensive deck which extends over the Kafue River, and it is here that you can relax and enjoy the wonderful view. It is also here that you meet for an early morning coffee before the morning activities, enjoy a hearty brunch later in the morning. In the evening, you can savour your dinner around a fire under a sky filled with stars.
You can enjoy some game viewing without even leaving the confines of the Lodge, as elephants are common visitors, antelopes graze the lawns, whilst lions and leopards regularly find their prey at the property.

Activities are varied at Leopard Lodge, as you can enjoy game drives, birding, fishing, boat cruises, and walking safaris. River Fishing is also available, with many fishing spots in the Kafue River, allowing you to catch a number of species.
To really enjoy the area, a walking safari is a must - there is huge difference between experiencing the nature on a walking safari, rather than from the back of a vehicle. You can also enjoy evening River cruises – with the sky changing from a deep blue to shades of pink and purple.
You might also wish to share the water with hippos and crocodiles whilst canoeing on the Kafue River. A canoe safari is one of the quietest and relaxing way of viewing the local wildlife. As the Kafue River is the major source of water for the animals, the concentration of game allows for some excellent game viewing and birding. With some 500 recorded species in Kafue National
Park it is birders paradise.
Leopard Lodge also has a “Big 5” challenge, where you get the chance to try to catch all 5 bream species. For fisherman the Kafue River offers superb fishing opportunities – with bream, barbel and fresh water pike available. The lodge provides fishing tackle, rods, boat and bait.
