Potato Bush Camp
Potato Bush Camp enjoys an excellent panoramic situation overlooking the Zambezi River and escarpment. The Camp is set under Mahogany, Sausage, Winter Thorn and Acacia Tortillas Trees, which provide excellent shade.
Potato Bush Camp is small, with just three well-appointed Canvas and Rosewood Safari Tents and a 2-bedroom Family Tent. The three Luxury Safari Tents are extremely spacious and have en-suite bathrooms with twin showers, twin basins and a full size four-claw bath tub. Large folding doors lead onto the large balcony which hosts a 2-person hammock and a private plunge pool, with well-appointed furniture. All beds are covered with large walk around four-poster mosquito nets and each fitted with a fan.
The Two-bedroom Family House is a massive 21m wide safari tent. This offers a large central living area, dining and balcony area which is set between the two bedrooms. Both bedrooms are en-suite with twin showers, twin basins and large four-claw baths (with a view). There is also a large plunge pool, fully stocked bar and fridge, and private dining table.
The main camp area is an open plan dining, bar and lounge area, which is accessed by all four Tents by way of raised wooden walk ways. The Boma has a well-stocked bar and two comfortable lounge areas. The camp fire is well positioned under the stars, on the edge of the river bank.
All meals are served around a communal hosted dining table. Breakfast and lunch are taken in the main dining tent.

Game drives are offered morning and afternoon/ evening. Night drives are the perfect way to experience the nocturnal animals, including the elusive Leopard, Genet, Civet, Porcupine and Giant Eagle Owl. The big cats tend to be more active at night, and other common sightings include Honey Badger, African Wild Cat and even the occasional sighting of the very rare Pangolin. Your guide will also point out the constellations of the Southern night sky.
The Lower Zambezi is known for its excellent canoeing. As one of the few Cams based inside the National Park, Potato Bush makes use of a wonderful section of the Zambezi River, the 14km long "Chifungulu Channel" which starts just 100m downstream of the camp. Trips vary and can be 1 to 7 hours in length. You can also enjoy scenic boat trips in the 6 metres river cruisers.
You might also enjoy a guided walking, as this is a perfect way to search for the smaller creatures, learn about the trees, and examine the different tracks and signs.
The Zambezi River is also home to some spectacular fresh water sport fishing with plentiful Tigerfish and Tilapia amongst others. Potato Bush Camp offers both spinning and fly fishing, both strictly "catch and release" in accordance with the principles of the Lower Zambezi National Park fishing policy.
Fishing is successful all year round, with the warmer months (September - December) best for Tigerfish. This is the breeding season when the fish are more active, feeding more regularly and are far more aggressive. The water level is typically lower and the visibility at its very best.
