Chongwe River Camp

In addition, each of the tents has a large outdoor bathroom with hot and cold running water, shower, toilet, vanity unit and dressing area with a wardrobe and full-length mirror. The tents also have their own private verandahs overlooking the river – making for a wonderful place in which to relax and watch the local wildlife.
Chongwe River Camp has two suites (Albida and Cassia). Both are large, custom-designed tents, with gauze windows. The en suite bathrooms are under canvas, and house double-basins, shower and bath. In addition each suite has a lounge, and private pool. The Albida suite is a luxurious self-contained colonial-style tented suite which sleeps four guests in two spacious, bedrooms set on either side of a private dining room and lounge area with its own bar fridge, plunge pool and fire pit. The Cassia Suite is a private, luxury tented suite for two on the banks of the Zambezi. Consisting of a canopied lounge and dining area with private plunge pool and fire pit and huge bedroom, it's perfect for honeymooners. The chef prepares a good variety of dishes, which are served at the outdoor dining table. Dining al fresco, with the African night sky as a canopy is an experience not to be missed!
There is a lot to do a Chongwe. Game drives give you the chance to explore the area, and see a good variety of game. A drive at night opens up the nocturnal world – as there are a number of species that you would not see during daylight hours.
Game walks add an extra dimension to being in the bush, and there is much to see, and learn from your guide. Being on a River is an added advantage, as canoeing is a popular option – both as an activity on its own, and as an exceptional way in which to see wildlife.
You can fill a stay of several days, and still allow yourself time to relax in this beautiful and tranquil setting.
Fishing is also a popular option, and the Zambezi is home to a premier game fish – the tiger. Chongwe operates a strict catch and release policy on all fish caught. In addition to tiger, there are bream, and catfish.
