Thorntree River Lodge
Thorntree River Lodge is set on the banks of the Zambezi River, within the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, on the Livingstone side of the Victoria Falls. It is a mere 20 minute drive upstream of the Falls.
Accommodation at Thorntree River Lodge is in 12 luxurious suites, 4 of which can be used as family suites, as they have inter-leading walkways. Each suite has been designed to show off the delightful river panoramas – and this is aided by the sliding glass panel walls. This, complete with a high-pitched canvas roofs, makes for a light and spacious offering.
In addition, of the suites boasts beautiful indoor bathrooms, which include an additional outdoor shower. You also have an intimate lounge area that sprawls out onto a private decking and a plunge pool.
The main/ communal Lodge area is designed to further compliment the setting. Here you find the lounge, bar and dining areas. You can also enjoy a post-dinner drink around the delightful sunken Boma and fire put area. For hot afternoons you might wish to enjoy the lodge’s infinity pool.

As the lodge is conveniently close to the Victoria Falls, it offers daily excursions to the Zambian side of The Falls where an excellent diversity of activities includes bungee jumping, white water rafting, tiger fishing expeditions, private river cruises, helicopter rides and picnics on Livingstone Island (seasonal).
The Thorntree offers a number of its own activities, which include guided walking safaris, game drives, canoeing, catch and release fishing and boat cruises on a secluded section of the Zambezi River. Of these activities is let by highly qualified local guides. All of these Lodge activities are complimentary.
As the Lodge is set within a National Park (albeit a small one), there is a good chance of seeing white rhino, plains zebra, crocodiles and an excellent number of bird species.
